Yes Virginia, Ice Melts

I apologize in advance, but I couldn't help laughing when I read this article. If the Darwin Awards haven't been given out yet, this group gets my nomination. I don't care how thick the ice is, when the temperature is above freezing, IT MELTS.

The best quote in the article was from Sheriff Bob Bratton: "We get people out here who don't know how to read the ice. What happened here today was just idiotic. I don't know how else to put it."

By the way, I'd be careful about any good deals on snowmobiles or ATVs near Lake Erie in the spring. I hear they're a little bit waterlogged.

Frankly, I question the sanity of anyone who goes ice fishing anyway. Not my idea of fun.
